The Directorate of Employment & Training (DET) that functions under the Department of Employment & Training of the Telangana Government supervises vocational education in the state. Throughout India, a series of government-managed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and privately-funded Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) have been constituted to impart skill-based training.
Working at the national level is the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) that lays down the policies of the technical training centers. The State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT), then, follows the NCVT’s guidelines while working at the state level.
Keeping in mind the technical education needs of the country’s youth population, the Union Government of India set up the ITIs and ITCs across India’s states. Moreover, there is a dearth of skilled labor in industries; and by providing vocational training, the Government authorities seek to fulfill the industries’ requirements of skillful manpower resources.
The vocational trade course involves both theoretical education (30%) and practical experience (70%). Also, there is a mix of NCVT and SCVT trades to make a choice from. The National Level Trade Certificates (NLTCs) are awarded upon completion of the NCVT trades; the State Level Trade Certificates (SLTCs), for the SCVT trades.
The NCVT/SCVT certifications are applicable for availing the opportunities at the national level or state level jobs, accordingly.
