Situated around the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are a group of islands that are categorized as one of India’s seven union territories. For the territory’s development, the Department of Labour, Employment & Training (DLET) has set up several technical training centers that include the government-run (Industrial Training Institutes or ITIs) and privately-managed ones (Industrial Training Centers or ITCs).
At the national level, the ITIs and ITCs are governed by the Government-appointed advisory body, the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT); and at the state level, the State Level of Vocational Training (SCVT) is counseled by the NCVT on the day-to-day operations of the hubs.
With the objective of developing a pool of skilled manpower resources, both the NCVT and SCVT impart vocational training to a considerable percentage of aspirants who are interested in pursuing the trade courses, every year. The course curriculum of the trade courses are reviewed and updated, regularly, by the appointed bodies too, for remaining updated on the latest industry trends and suitably fulfilling the demand of skilled labor in the varied industries.
