The Government of Karnataka appointed the Department of Employment & Training (DET) to manage the administrative affairs of the state’s technical training hubs that include the government-managed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and privately-owned Industrial Training Centers (ITCs). The DET comes under the Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET) of the Ministry of Labour of the Union Government of India, and functions as per the National Employment Service Scheme.
The government has given the responsibility to both the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) at the national level and the State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) in the respective states to work together for conducting vocational education across India’s varied states.
The objective of providing skill training to the country’s youngsters is to bridge the gap of skilled labor in industries. In turn, the aspirants can work in their chosen trades and earn their livelihood, too.
The aspiring candidates can enroll for several NCVT and SCVT trades as per their interests, and upon successful completion of the courses they become eligible for the national-level and state-level jobs, respectively. The National Level Trade Certificates are awarded for the NCVT trades and the State Level Trade Certificates for the SCVT ones.
