Affiliation Norms for ITIs

Affiliation Norms for ITIs are the guidelines and procedures for establishing and running Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in India. ITIs are vocational training centers that offer courses in various trades and skills. The affiliation norms are issued by the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), which is the apex body for vocational training in India.

The affiliation norms cover various aspects such as land, building, equipment, staff, curriculum, admission, examination, certification, etc. The purpose of these norms is to uphold high standards of quality and expectations of the various stakeholders of the ITI system. The affiliation norms are revised periodically to reflect the changing needs and demands of the industry and society.

The latest affiliation norms for ITIs were issued in 2021 and are applicable for new proposals from the academic session 2024.
The new norms aim to improve training in unserved blocks of the country and to curb the mushrooming of unauthorized institutes.
The new norms also introduce an accreditation program for ITIs to ensure continuous improvement and monitoring of their performance.
The new norms also provide for online application and processing of affiliation proposals through a web portal.
