The Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board is the governing body of the vocational training centers in India that include the government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and privately-owned Industrial Training Centers (ITCs). The Board’s location is traceable to Dharamsala’s Dari that lies amidst the Dhauladhar ranges of the Himalayan Mountains.
The Government-appointed bodies that manage vocational education across the Indian states are the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) that works at the national level and the State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) at the state level.
The aspiring candidates can pursue NCVT or SCVT trades, depending on the ones they are interested in; they have an array of trade programs that they can pursue. Besides, Apprenticeship training that lasts for 1-2 years is part of the trade courses, under which theoretical knowledge is put into practice.
However, upon completion of the NCVT trades, the National Level Trade Certificates are awarded (NLTCs) and the SCVT trades lead to the State Level Trade Certificates. The NLTCs and SLTCs make the students eligible to avail jobs at the national level or state level, respectively.

Over a period of 1-2 years, the trade programs run and are conducted in a series of 4 semesters; for each semester, the pupils have to give exams.
